Is it March Yet? And Better Late Than Never

2008_0217powerline0030

Is it too late to wish all of you a Happy Valentine's Day? Maybe I'm just really early for next year... The bears were our first baby gift, from my husband's very thoughtful coworker and her husband. The bears came with chocolate for us and I am chagrined to tell you that this pregnancy (or "demon-possession" as one of my former group home residents would say) has taken away my desire for chocolate. I, a person who had a bit of dark chocolate (for medicinal purposes) every night after dinner, have no interest now. Boy do I hope that comes back soon. I mentioned a few days ago that I was thinking of making chocolate chip cookies "if I could tolerate the smell" so...every day the DH helpfully puts 2 sticks of butter out on the counter...and I put them back in the frig. Poor guy. Mostly what I do these days is work, sit on the sofa bundled in blankets (I am on a blood thinner for the pregnancy and I get so cold!) and talk about how wretched I feel. Don't you wish you were all here for that?

In other news, my blood thinner was recalled this week after 4 people died and 350 had allergic reactions. I did have an allergic reaction with one of the vials, but like most people, I chalked the episode up to nerves, exhaustion, etc. Imagine my surprise when I saw the article about it in the paper. Not to worry, the pharmacy shipped me  a new supply from a different manufacturer overnight. Murphy's Law I guess. This whole process is nothing if not interesting...I could use your advice though. We've been crib shopping (preliminarily...too early to do anything yet) and I have been wondering what we should do about painting (or not) the nursery...

About 6 years ago, back when I thought that all you had to do was pick a birthdate, count back 9 months and get pregnant...I bought this "Lyon Toile" from Country Curtains, made shades and painted the room a soft green to match. I have some extra fabric too. It's a pretty gender neutral color scheme...should I just use it and save my husband from repainting the room? Or...should I go with a vintage look like this?

I have lots of vintage embroidered baby things to use also, but they would go with either look

Well, it's been good to talk with you. Maybe I will bake those cookies tomorrow. This is the first winter ever that I have opened the back door to this

and prayed for an early spring. Thank you so much for visiting Hollyhocks.
