Farmer's Market and Fabric
Warning: This post...typed one-handed while soothing a baby with the other hand I might add... will surely make you hungry... The above fabric, from a collection called Farmer's Market... is the fabric for which I have been waiting all summer.
But before we talk fabric, let's talk farmer's markets. I delightedly woke up early on Saturday and visited our nearby market (on my second day of driving!). Words are inadequate to describe the thrill of a peak-of-season heirloom tomato sandwich with salt and Miracle Whip on white bread. Only to be eclipsed by fresh mozzarella and basil with balsamic vinegar and the rest of those tomatoes, sliced and salted...
Vanilla yogurt for breakfast with fresh plums and apricots and local organic granola...this is the life! There is a farmer wanna be inside of me. If it wasn't for the bugs, weather and really hard work...
Now about the fabric...the designer is Sandi Henderson, of Portabello Pixie , and the fabric is just plain pretty. It makes me happy to look at it. It is, or at least was, doggone hard to find. Everybody was selling out.
When you have a chance, check out Sandi's site and tell me how much you wish you were a little girl again so you could whip up a pair of those pants with the ruffles on the bottom (June 6, 2008 post). If I can find more yardage of the dahlia fabric, I could see a mommy and me combo of pants for Rory and a shirt for me...
Every print and colorway is prettier than the last. So, if you aren't hungry yet... When my friend Anne visited last week, we had mini toast with brie, imported bleu cheese and sliced figs. I can hardly wait for this week's market.
The babies had their second Dr. visit today. Both are growing and gaining at a really good rate and we are the proudest of parents. Cadbury is back to sleeping on my feet at night and, as one commenter said...Life is good. Really really good.
I have a wishbone that I dried and saved months ago. Does your family do that? I think it would be greedy to ask for any more than I have been given lately. Would anybody like a wishbone?
Thank you for visiting Hollyhocks. I count you among our blessings.
Hi Vicki
Finally I'm back here from our little vacation. I think you guys did such a great job. Congratulations for being the parents of the most beautiful children in the world! They are soooo sweet! Worth double the time of bedrest don't you think huh???
Enjoy!!!
I think it's such a great sign that you are already blogging again. Giving birth to a baby ( I cannot speak of babies) always narrows your world for a while, which is good of course because this must be the main event in your life! I am really excited about this and chatting as if my head isn't connected in the right way. Pffew there is so much to catch up but this is the best news of course.
Chat soon! LiLi

I see our dear friend Lili is back from her holiday in Paris. That is also a lucky girl.
The fabric is very nice but I am hooked on the new range of Heather Bailey.
You can not be sad if you see these fabrics. I can always buy fabric. It is realy an addiction for me. Have bought at least 20 yards this week, all on the internet.Since the euro is so strong we can buy in the USA with a 30% discount!!!
Every excuse is good to buy more fabric!!

Hmmm...I can't wait to see if you have time to play with that gorgeous fabric. Your babies are just so sweet! How could a sewing machine compete with all that cuteness?
And oh my gosh, are you a lucky woman...that estate sale you found was unbelievable. I think I might have hyperventilated had I been there.

Vicki, It was such a delight to see your glowing face as I came out from my office to the store! You looked wonderful (though, you DO need more chocolate to plump up that face — LOL!!!) But enough about you (for now) — those BABIES!!!!! OMG! they are stunning! Every photo is sweeter than the one before! They look so mature and smart already! (I think it's the "long & lean") The "rapper" one is just a riot but, my faves are the ones where they are snuggled beside one another. Must run (work day) but, I had to pop in and say hello. Please, always find time to blog — I love how you write (do I sound like a broken record?)
XXOO to the whole clan of ya!

Sweet sweet babies.
I love the sandwich with Miracle Whip. I grew up in a Miracle Whip family, my husband a mayo... so we have a mixed marriage.

Hi Vicki, the babies look so beautiful! I'm really looking forward to our visit! That is something we haven't done this summer, the Farmer's Market. We have a little corn stand that I visit several times a week but we need to get to the Market, sounds wonderful! That fabric is beautiful, I'll have to check out her site. I've got plans to make some pillow cases from my vintage linens these fabrics would be a beautiful accent. I love reading your blog! Thanks for sharing your blessed life with us. Take Care.

Your twins are absolutely adorable. Viewing the pictures made me feel all coo-y and a bit yearnful of the days when mine were babies. Babies are the greatest!
