When little Joe was very little, he would look up from his stroller seat and marvel at the trees. He would hear the leaves rustling and then watch the movement and smile.
When he was 8 months old, he started to laugh at the trees. It was spring here and everything was green. He giggled at green.
Last autumn Joe and Rory were playing in the grass with daddy when leaves started to fall from the trees. Both of the twins were scared. Once we thought about it, we realized that lots of things falling from the sky, hitting you or close to you would be scary if you had never seen it before.
Recently, we were going on a family drive and Joe yelled excitedly from the back seat "Mama, tree!!!!" I looked up and saw a huge tree. Beautiful...but...a ...tree. We are blessed to have lots of them where we live.
Joe then announced EVERY tree we passed. "Mama, tree!" "tree!" "tree"...
We were going for a long drive...through a wooded area...so I was picturing the 10,000th "Mama, tree!" of the day...
When I realized... for Joe today was the day when he finally had a name for this great and wonderful thing he had appreciated for almost as long as he had been alive. It was a TREE.
Moments like these, and there are many, are why I wanted children. So many days I look up and marvel at the perfect beauty that finally has a name...Joe and Aurora.
They are 2 now...
2 years in the blink of an eye.
Lovely story.

Even though mine are 22, 19 and 16 and all have the normal problems of those years I still often get that lovely feeling that being a parent is a wonderful thing. I can just see your son becoming a landscape designer. Cherrie

So sweet. I remember when F used to point out every single bus we would pass, "school bus" "regular bus" all the time. Imagine what it was like when we passed a whole line outside school:) Happy birthday babies!

He does so by obsessing about the user experience above all else, and he'd have no qualms about out-sourcing the code development to China just like the manufacturing, if he could get the same quality of output. He doesn't have any more affection for afprogrammers than for anyone else involved in the product and sees designers as a lot more central to the process.
