I'm sorry that I have been gone so long. I kept thinking that I would write a quick post...and then the weeks turned into months. Mommying and working is tiring! But I have big plans for December. I have been sewing up a storm and we have been collecting winter and Christmas-themed children's books, and recipes...so, December should be a good blog month. I have been following all of you. Josie and her NYC adventure, Barbara and her amazing vintage finds, Susan and her knack for turning vintage supplies into beautiful things, Sarah and the happy pregnancy we have all been praying for...Yay Sarah! Pam and the ability to turn a pile of pretty fabric into a gorgeous handmade treasure...Corrie and that GROWING family...I could go on. Visiting your blog homes is such a nice escape at the end of the day, but I have to make an effort to see some 3 dimensional people too. It's just difficult when time is limited...as I'm sure all of you know all too well.

 

 

At 2 years, 3 months, the twins are everything I could ever have dreamed of. They make me laugh every day. We read to Rory in Spanish and despite our valiant efforts, she has reduced the entire Spanish language to "Doo Dah", which must be a product of the book "Where is Baby's Belly Button" where they keep asking "De donde es?" I guess if you are 2, that translates to "Doo Dah".

 

They remind me that they need to brush their choppers and if you bump into Joe, he says "Ousch!". I hope he never learns the "ch" sound. We are working on manners, so when one burps at the table, an excuse me is expected. Joe complies readily but Rory insists on using her best Cookie Monster voice for this task. We are working on that. Joe is obsessed with the moon and now he has all of the other kids at school staring out the window, looking for it. Which, I am sure, thrills the ladies who are trying to maintain order and a schedule. So, life is busy...but the joy of watching these angels change and grow so quickly reminds us that these toddler days are fleeting.

 

As I write this, I am on the 2nd annual mommy-alone getaway to relax and recharge, a birthday present from the DH. Same B&B as last time...in August 2009.

 
 

It is peaceful and beautiful here. The room is gorgeous, dinner was amazing and I have a heated towel bar. It doesn't get much better than this... I will be excited to hug the twins later. Although when I called last night Rory dismissed me with a few words of greeting and then "Rory eat now". Daddy got mac and cheese takeout with french fries and what the twins call "dipit" (ketchup)...a rare treat.

Always good to pop in to blog land and find a new post from someone I haven't seen in a while. Goodness those children are growing fast. I've been looking after 11month twins for the last 3 months (3 days pw) and I can certainly vouch for the fact that it's hard work. Today a 17 month old joined them and can you believe they are all sleeping at the same time! I'm taking some me time while I can. Hope you enjoy yours. Bx

It was so good to hear about you and yours! I was just wondering today, driving to work, how I got everything done this time of year when the kids were little ... I still don't know. Those two are gorgeous beyond words.

They've changed so much. I can't imagine how big they will be when I see them next. Hope the getaway was as relaxing as it looks. Next year...I'm coming too:) xxx
